Bath Products Stash & Storage

Over Christmas I accumulated quite a lot of bath and body products so now that I am back down in my flat I thought I would sort them all out nicely!  To start with I have organised my bath bombs/melts by taking all the Lush items out of their paper bags and wrapped them in cling film so that I can see what everything is quickly.  If you have quite a few and want to keep track of what they are, you could write their names on the sling film using a Sharpie or permanent marker.

Lush Secret Garden Bath Bomb

I'm quite delayed with this one as it's from the Easter/Mother's Day collection but due to the move I hadn't had a bath in a few months (not in the food and there was also a leak...)!  So for the first bath in my new flat I decided to use Lush's Secret Garden.  It has a floral - as you would imagine - of rose absolute, wild orange and rosewood oils.

When I dropped it in the water, it started to fizz away and as the green and pink mixed, it made the water a very dubious grey colour!  However as there is more green in the bomb, it soon took over and the water was a much nicer shade of green!

As it reached the end of it's life, I realised it was spluttering (yes, actually spitting them out!) out some little flower petals!  I did know this at the time but after a few months I'd forgot so I was slightly alarmed to see black things floating around my until I realised what they were... I do enjoy petals but these were a bit odd to be honest, there wasn't many and some just looked like bit of dark mush!  I have seen it compared to Tisty Tosty which also has petals in it but I haven't tried it to say for myself.

The smell of it was pleasant but I would've liked it to be a bit stronger.  If you like floral scents but only quite subtle ones then this would be ideal for you.

Overall I did enjoy the experience of using Secret Garden but not going to bother repurchasing if they bring it out again next year.  I think it was £2.50 which is fairly cheap for Lush, and it's also vegan.

Lush Golden Egg Bath Melt/Bomb

I managed to get to a Lush and buy some items from my Easter wishlist, I was quite good though and only got 2 things!  The first one I've tried is the Golden Egg which is a bath bomb surrounded by a bath melt, and then by looks of it, drenched in gold glitter...  I got the lady in Lush to pick it up for me so I didn't get covered in the stuff haha.

As you can see compared to my hand it's a good size, which you would expect really as it's a '2 in 1' product!  I popped it in my bath and all the glitter came off into the water, beginning to melt turning it a golden yellow.  Once all the 'melt' part was finished, you could tell as it started fizzing properly and bobbing around, giving off more colour and some foamy bubbles.  When it was fully dissolved - which took ages, at least 5 minutes - the water ended up kind of a weird colour actually!  More of a pale yellow with some glitter floating around which was a bit odd haha!  However once you get over that, it is a rather pleasant bath, the cocoa butter makes the water really soft and silky.  The scent of it is similar to Honey I Washed The Kids, however I don't think it's quite as sweet as the soap, with a very slight cirtus-y edge to it which is nice.  As someone who isn't a big fan of really sweet smells, I think this was a perfect balance for me.

After getting out the bath my skin felt nice and soft but not too oily.  I did need to shower to get rid of any excess product and glitter on my skin!  When I drained the bath, the entire bottom was just covered in glitter, oops!  Luckily most of it just washed away but there was some still left stuck, which I did mean to clean with a flannel at some point...

I enjoyed this bath ballistic and would repurchase at some point but I'm not bothered about stocking up on it while the Easter collection is out.  At £3.50 I think it's pretty reasonable when you get the effects and benefits of both the melt and bomb.  Also I should add that unlike HIWTK, Golden Egg is vegan which is great!  Online here.

Bomb Cosmetics Blackberry Sour Whoopie Blaster

This besprinkled doughnut shaped item is in fact one of Bomb Cosmetics 'Whoopie Blasters'.  These are similar to their normal Bath Blasters (bath bombs) except for their doughnut shape and they have a filling of cocoa and shea butter to moisturise and nourish the skin.  This particular one is called Blackberry Sour and the butter filling contains bergamot and camomile oils.

I love the smell of this one, it really is a sour blackberry scent!  When I placed it in my bath it sank to the bottom (it's huge at 140g!) and fizzed away, immediately turning the water a pale lilac colour.  It lasted for ages and dissolved very evenly so that towards the end there was a mini version still floating about!  Also, as it got smaller and lighter it started floating rather than fizzing around at the bottom of the bath.  I would have liked the scent to be a bit stronger as it was more subtle once in the bath, but this was just me and would probably would be a good thing for those who prefer not to have strong smells in the bath!

One thing I didn't like sadly were the sprinkles on the top!  The whole 'icing' part, if you will, came off and floated around separately but it wouldn't dissolve easily, so I was left with all these sprinkles, even once I'd let all the water out of the bath.  Not a big complaint but they were a bit irritating!

As for the moisturising side of it, I did feel like it was quite moisturising but it kind of felt like I was left with layer of something on my skin which I don't really like!  It could just be me but even putting on an actual body butter or cream before bed makes me feel a bit sticky and gross!

Overall I did enjoy this Bath Blaster but I wouldn't buy this particular one again.  The Whoopie Bath Blasters are £2.99 which I think is perfectly reasonable, however I did prefer the Butter Burst Blaster which I reviewed here - they are bigger and are only £2.29.  I would like to try another Whoopie Blaster though, perhaps one without sprinkles on the top!

Lush Easter Wishlist

So on Friday there, all the Easter and Mother's Day limited edition collections became available online and in Lush stores.  Unfortunately I was in a shop on Thursday and not Friday, gutted!  However I've had a look online and compiled a list of products I'd quite like to try.  Sometimes I think with Lush it's easier looking online first as when you're in store the smell's just so strong that it can be hard to work out what individual things actually smell like!  I remember my old Home Economics teacher telling us once that the brain can only process 3 scents at a time and after that they get all muddled up, not sure if it's true but it sounds like it makes sense!

Secret Garden

             

Secret Garden is a bath bomb from the Mother's Day collection.  Floral scent filled with different kinds of flower petals which are released as it dissolves!!  Vegan.  £2.95 here.

The Immaculate Eggception

Gigantic, colourful Easter egg bath bomb which smells of lemon, grapefruit and vanilla.  Inside there is either a chick or a bunny!  Vegan.  £6.95 here.

Golden Egg

This one is a bath melt and a bath bomb in one!  Scented with the same fragrance as Honey I Washed the Kids, so honey and caramel smelling.  However, unlike HIWK, this is vegan!  £3.50 here.

Bunch of Carrots

This one is actually for my mum, she got one last year (I think it was only one carrot last year?) and only got round to using it a few months ago and really enjoyed it.  So for Mother's Day I'm going to get her this as part of her present.  Bunch of Carrots is a reusable bubble bar, if it's anything like last years it is a sweet, fruity scent.  Vegan.  £5.95 here.

The Brightside

This sounds like a citrusy version of The Comforter!  A bubble bar scented with mandarin, bergamot and tangerine, sounds very refreshing!  Vegan.  £4.50 here.

Have you tried any of these products?  Are any of them amazing or meh?  For example, I cannot believe how expensive The Immaculate Eggception is!  Is it worth paying £7 for one bath?!  Any comments will be taken on board, thankfully I have a giftcard left from Christmas but it's still adding up to about £25...

Bomb Cosmetics Appleberry Butter Burst Blaster

Bomb Cosmetics Appleberry Butter Burst Blaster.  Bit of a tongue twister isn't it?!  A few weeks ago I made my first order from Bomb Cosmetics which included two bath bombs and 3 soaps.  The first of these I tried is Appleberry which is a crisp green-apple scented bath bomb centred with a cocoa butter swirl.  The centre is scented mainly with blackcurrants but also strawberries, raspberries and blueberries.

As you can see from the photo it's kind of shrink wrapped which made it really difficult to open!  A pair of nail scissors will come in very handy at this point!  I dropped it into my bath and it started fizzing away happily, turning the water a bright shade of green.  I will just point out here that the bath bomb is really big, it's 160g so it lasts for ages in the water.  It also fizzes very evenly so you can bring it back out the water again and have a little mini version!  It has a pleasant scent which is mainly apple with berries coming through.  The purple sprinkles of the top are actually real sugar strands which I kept finding floating around at the end as they took longer to dissolve.

I really enjoyed this bath bomb and would buy it again however Bomb Cosmetics have so many other other amazing ones that I'd want to try!  At only £2.29 I think it's a great buy especially when you look at some prices of Lush bath bombs...

Special Soap Shop Bath Collection

Bethany from the Special Soap Shop very kindly offered to send me a selection of her lovely bath products to try out and share my thoughts on here.  They are handmade, cruelty free and contain the following ingredients... The bath bombs contain sodium bicarbonate, citric acid and then essential oils depending on what 'flavour' it is. The bath salts contain magnesium sulphate, sea salt, epsom salt, natrasorb bath and again, the essential oils.

Out of the options I chose rose, lavender, vanilla spice and strawberry.  There are lots of other fragrances such as exotic spices, lemon, and coffee.

The bright pink one is lavender which should be purple but due to an error with her suppliers it ended up bright pink!! I just thought I should mention this in case you see the purple one and wonder why it's a different colour haha!

Bath Bombs

I haven't actually used a bath bomb in ages as my bath product of choice tends to be a bubble bar, so I can't really compare these to any mainstream bath bombs.

For each one, I would drop it in after running running my bath. It sank to the bottom and fizzled away happily until they was nothing left.  I didn't find it left any sort of colour in the water even though the lavender and strawberry ones are quite bright.  It filled the room with a really pleasant, delicate aroma.  It wasn't overpowering at all, just quite soothing and relaxing.

If you like having bubbles in your bath then you could quite easily use the bomb first and then add some bubble bath after it has dissolved.

Bath Salts

I really loved this!  I expected to prefer the bath bombs as the idea of bath salts sounds quite boring to me but this was far from boring!  The one I had was Rose and so soon as I poured it in, the scent filled the room.  It was much stronger than the bath bombs but still not overpowering.  There were little petals in amongst the salts and it turned the water slightly cloudy.  It was a thoroughly luxurious experience!
