In other news, have you all heard about the ban on animal tested products in the EU from 11th March?! It's such an achievement! I am so looking forward to that date to see what a lot of companies do, because as far as I'm aware ones like L'Oreal will have to withdraw from China if they want to continue selling in the EU, since in China animal testing on cosmetics is mandatory. I'm just wondering if I can go back to buying from companies I'd previously have avoided, when would it be 'safe' to do so, would I even want to?? So many questions!
What are your thoughts on the whole thing?

I think the ban is just in the EU so companies will keep testing in China and America and still be in our shops. They won't be able to test in the EU though. I guess it's a step forwards but I'll still be watching what I buy and being vigilant about who sells where etc. Love your V-Day look, I'll check out that link now xx
ReplyDeleteBut if they're tested anywhere on animals, they're not allowed to sell in EU? That's what I thought it was, but I could be wrong, it's a bit confusing! Thanks lovely :)
DeleteI have been researching and I think I understand it a bit better now. The ban applies to the products being sold in our shops. So if, for example, Revlon test the cosmetics they sell in China and not the ones that the sell in the UK then they will still be able to sell the UK ones in our shops because they specifically haven't been tested. The ban also says nothing about parent companies, so if Rimmel don't test their products but Coty test theirs for sale in America then Rimmel products can still be sold in the UK because they won't have been tested. Does that make sense? Don't get me wrong, the ban is a massive step forward but until every country works together to stop animal testing it will still occur xx

ReplyDeleteI understood the ban the same way Leishasarous did (sorry, would use your real name lol but don't have it) and that you can test your products for sale elsewhere in the world but the products you put into the UK must be dermalogically tested. I'm still going to continue boycotting any brands that sell in China (and test elsewhere).
Though I am waiting to see if some companies have to discontinue for a while until they test the correct way!
