EOTN: Callanetics Christmas Dinner

On Friday I make a cheeky wee purchase in the House of Fraser brand event, I picked it up at work on Saturday and wore it out that night!  This is the Nars Duo you might have seen in my Christmas Wishlist - Kuala Lumpur.  I was going out for dinner with girls from my callanetics class just to local restaurant, it was so good.  My friend Jenny didn't like any of the starters so I had hers; I had tomato, onion and mozzarella bruscetta, then her goat's cheese and caramelised onion bruscetta - oh god it was so tasty, and I don't usually like goat's cheese!  Then for my main course I had seabass with a herby breadcrumb topping served with baby potatoes and salad, and for dessert I had vanilla cheesecake with chocolate sauce and strawberries, mmmm!!!  This was all (well 3 courses...) for only £19.95, what a bargain!

Okay I think I have rambled about food for long enough... Here is the look I created with the Nars Duo.  I did not wear anything on my lips as I find it pretty pointless when going for a meal!

For the eyes I used NYX Jumbo Pencil in Milk, then Nars duo e/s in Kuala Lumpur and also the paler colour from the Nars Hungry Hearts duo as a brow highlight.  I lined my eyes with Mac Blacktrack Fluidline, Benefit They're Real mascara (both not cruelty free) on my lashes and filled in my eyebrows with Une Brow Pencil in B04.  On my cheeks I have MUA Blush in Shade 6 and this Physician's Formula Highlighter.

  1. I'm surprised you like Nars; they're not cruelty free as their parent company, Shiseido, tests on animals.. Nice colours though xx

    1. I know that but I have contacted them and been assured that they are independent from Shiseido and are totally cruelty free! I use quite a few brands which are owned by non-CF companies (The Body Shop, Liz Earle). Some people wouldn't agree with it but as long as the company assures me their profits aren't going to animal testing I am happy to use them!

    2. I don't know if I could trust that, I mean how are their profits not going to the company that owns them? I don't think that's possible.. I don't think there is such a thing as an independant company that is owned by another.. The parent company wouldn't fork out millions to buy these other companies if they weren't going to make a profit from it xx

    3. I've no idea of the details but if they chose to lie to me then I can't really do much about that, it would be very unprofessional! Another viewpoint I've heard is that if a non-CF company buys a CF one they can learn from them how animal testing is unnecessary and help them to develop their own alternatives. I'm not sure if BUAV take parent companies into consideration? I know PETA don't but I don't trust really PETA 'certified' brands anyway. It's very subjective anyway, just use whatever brands you trust!

    4. Yeah it's hard to be entirely sure isn't it. We just have to do our best =) I won't be buying Nars though. Or Urban Decay who were just bought by L'Oreal urgh. It's so hard. I wish animal testing was a thing of the past so we could just buy what we wanted without having to check first! One day maybe xx

    5. Yeah it depends on how far you want to take it! A lot of people use only BUAV approved but lots of smaller companies are CF but can't afford to get approved so personally I don't think that's very fair :( I know I'm gutted about Urban Decay, I'm boycotting them at the moment until I find out the details :/ yes I doubt we'll live to see that say but can always hope and do our best to help!!

    6. The BUAV list of approved companies has a little * beside any brands who are owned by a non CF parent company which is great if you want complete transparency.

I agree with you on the BUAV thing though. Lush can't be BUAV approved for silly technical reasons but are about as CF as you can get!!! X

    7. Yes I thought that was right about parent companies!! So I mean you if you're wanting to stick by BUAV then you can't judge anywhere by their PC if BUAV don't even!

      Exactly, love Lush :)

    1. Oh thank you! It's literally just practice! I find gel ones much easier than liquid... felt tip ones are pretty good too :)
