Lipstick Storage // Beauty

If you have been following for years you might remember a previous post I did showing my lipstick collection and storage.  I previously used the mirrored jewellery box which you can see in the background of the photos, and still do for some products, however I now have a new way for storing my most used lipsticks.

KIKO Kiss Balm in Tutti Frutti // Beauty

"Tinted lip balm with repairing action and SPF 15 protection"
Kiss Balm lip balm in the colour Tutti Frutti was one of my Black Friday weekend bargains from Kiko when they had on an extremely tempting offer of buy 3 get 3 free!  I also got another colour  called Blackberry which I have currently misplaced...  I picked these up as my lips have been too dry recently for lipstick but I still wanted to have some colour on them.

My Perfect Nude Lip Combination

I mentioned in my recent Louise Loves post about a lip combination I have been using a lot recently.  I wanted a lipstick which would give the 90s style nude/brown effect which are all over the place at the moment and I was lucky enough to find it in Superdrug for under a fiver!

Louise Loves #11

H&M Necklace

I bought this necklace a couple of weeks ago from H&M for £7.99.  Now, I am the sort of person who wear the same 2 costume necklaces on rotation so I thought I would mix it up a bit and get some new ones.  I am on the look out for longer ones as the ones I usually wear are short chunky pieces.  I got a lovely one from Topshop but it broke the day I got it so I took it back and didn't bother getting a new one.  This H&M one caught my eye because it looks much fancier than it is.  You can't see in the photo but chains are actually beads which are multi-facetted which makes them really sparkle in certain lights.  I love that I can just wear a plain top and throw this on and it looks like I've made more of an effort!

Gosh Nougat Crisp Lip Liner & Make up Revolution The One Lipstick

I wanted to find a product which would give me the sort of nude/brown 90s style lips that are all over the place at the moment but I have quite strongly coloured lips so I wasn't sure if it would suit me.  I found this combination in Superdrug for a total of about £5 so I could try it out without spending too much money!  The liner is really nice, it's a softer version of the colour of my lips and it applies easily.  The lipstick is a semi-matte nude and works well on top of the liner in the middle to lighten my lips slightly.  I will do a separate post on this with photos of them together on my lips.  I also got another lipstick which is more nude and true matte but I haven't tried this properly yet as I loved the first one I tried so much!

Illamasqua Precision Brow Gel

I've had this for a while now but I'm going to be honest, it scared me a bit!  I was really excited when it first arrived in the post but when I tried it out I realised you can't just paint it on as you would with a pencil or eyeshadow, so I took to youtube and found some gel brow tutorials and now I am loving it!  I am going to do a post soon to show you how I use it, what tools and other products I use it with.

Lime Crime Velvetines in Red Velvet

I've had my Lime Crime Velvetine in Red Velvet for quite a few months now and I am really enjoying it.  I was very kindly sent it by the lovely people at cutECOsmetics so that I could feature it in a post on their blog but due to the shortage of the Velvetines at that time it wasn't posted!  So I've decided instead to do a quick review on here.

I love the packaging!  As always, Lime Crime has really cute designs for all their products, with such nice attention to detail even to the box, I felt bad about binning it...  I also love the frosted glass, I think it makes it a bit different and nice to touch - bit creepy? :/

When you open Red Velvet there is a doe foot applicator and usually a lot of product already on it.  I made the mistake of applying it straight to my lips when I first got it - not good, a little goes a long way!  I prefer using a small lip brush to apply it but if I'm feeling lazy I just wipe of any excess product from the applicator onto the side of the tube before applying.  I found the Velvetine really strange to apply, quite liquidy - sort of like a thick stain.  It dries pretty quickly to a lovely matte finish and lasts for hours!  It also comes off relatively evenly but if you were eating it would probably need a wee touch up after in the centre, drinks however seem fine!

I photographed these swatches of Lime Crime Velvetine back in February and my lips were quite dry but surprisingly I did not find them drying on the lips and I don't think it shows up too badly either.  I often suffer from dry lips and putting lipstick over them can look horrible sometimes so I'm glad this one is okay!

I love the formula of these and really want Suedeberry too which is referred to as a "vibrant, strawberry red", as opposed to Red Velvet which is a "rich, velvety red".  You can buy them from cutECOsmetics for £11.50 which I don't think is unreasonable, I think the product will last for ages as well.  Lime Crime are cruelty free and vegan!

Have you tried any Lime Crime products; got anything on your wish list?

Illamasqua Intense Lipgloss in Boost

I've had my eye on this lipgloss ever since it first came out in the Generation Q collection but as it was £14 and I'm not a huge lipgloss fan I decided to leave it.  However just before Christmas Illamasqua were offering 40% off full price items to make up students (it's usually 20%) so I just decided to get it as I probably won't get that opportunity again for a while! I also got the blusher in Kiss which I will be doing a post on too (when I can get a decent picture of it on my face!) and a medium pencil in Spell which is a bright pillar box red.  This cheeky wee discount brought the price down to £8.40 which isn't too bad although still pricey for a lipgloss!

The lipgloss is stunning, according to Illamasqua it's 'blueberry violet', but to be more exact it's a light purple with a shimmery blue duochrome to it.  Alone it isn't too opaque but it is still noticeable and looks really unusual, but over a purple lipstick it looks amazing.

I like that it comes with a brush rather than those ridiculous squeezy tubes or doe foot applicators, but I think that I got a dodgy one because it seems to have a bit of plastic sticking out from the bristles which isn't great!  It's only tiny but still annoying.

Onto the swatches!  Apologies for my gross dry lips... I tried to pick the best one out of a bad bunch haha!  In the bottom two I have applied it over Topshop Inhibition which is a combination I absolutely love!

E.L.F. Mineral Moisturising Lip Tint SPF 8 in Berry Review

I was ordering some bits on E.L.F. a month or so ago and I decided to try out their new Mineral Moisturising Lip Tint from the Studio line which is £3.50.  I thought that it may be similar to the infamous Revlon Lip Butters, although I don't actually own any so I can't compare them!

I got mine in the shade Berry - I tend to be drawn to things which have that name!  First of all, I was really quite impressed with the pigmentation.  My lips are a very strong colour naturally (may sound good but it's the bane of my life!) and it was pretty much opaque!  I only got the one colour so I can't say whether or not it is the same for the other shades.  They smell really good, however they actually taste horrible!  Obviously you're not supposed to eat them but while wearing something on your lips it's usually going to find a way into your mouth!

Overall I did like this product however I would not use it as a moisturising 'balm', I found it really didn't do much for me on that front.  It wasn't drying but I definitely didn't find it particularly moisturising either.  So I like this as a lipstick which is semi-moisturising rather than a moisturising product with a tint - if that makes any sense at all!!  I won't be buying any more of these I don't think, just because none of the other colours really take my fancy, but I do enjoy this one!

Sorry for the dodgy photos, these were all taken under different lighting conditions - rookie mistake!  Hopefully my photography skills will improve as time goes on haha...
