NOTD: Trustafarian

I haven't worn nail varnish in such a long time let along blogged about it!  Is it possible to be to busy to even apply nail varnish?!  My nails were getting too long and I was going to cut them so I thought I may as well take advantage of them being long and paint them first.  I'm tempted to shape them into that stiletto style actually, it's grown on me!

This is Butter London's Trustafarian which is a pale green with a sparkly golden holograph through it.  The holo is fairly subtle but catches the light beautifully - the photos don't do it justice!  I applied 3 coats although 2 would probably be fine.

NOTD: Jack the Lad

Cutecosmetics have currently got 25% off Butter London so obviously I had difficulty controlling myself!  I did very well though and only got two...  I went for Jack the Lad and the holographic Trustafarian.  So here I'm showing the the first one I've tried - Jack the Lad.

Jack the Lad is a dark forest green with gold, green and turquoise glitter through it.  It's a really pretty dark polish which is opaque with 2 coats although for the photos I had to use 3.  It reminds me of Wicked actually, maybe I'll wear this when I go to see it in May!

Butter London polishes are usually £12 but with 25% off they are £9 at the moment.

NOTD: All Hail The Queen

If you remember back to my recent wishlist post I said I would like another Butter London nail varnish to add to my lonely little Disco Biscuit, so the next time I was in Boots I picked up All Hail The Queen!  After quickly swatching it on my finger I was quite disappointed, it was so sheer and streaky, so it put me off trying it properly for a while.  However when I finally did I was quite pleased with how it turned out, after 3 coats that is!  You could probably get away with 2 coats if you are very careful to get them even.  All Hail The Queen is a neutral brown with a slight scattered holo through it which is really pretty.  It is quite similar to China Glaze Fast Track which you can see here which is lighter with gold shimmer instead.

Payday Wishlist!

If you follow me on Twitter (@LooweezBx) you might know that at the start of September I managed to get myself a full time job!  It's just in retail which isn't where I want to build my career however for the next year or so it'll keep money coming in until I can hopefully find something relevant to my degree...

So to celebrate my first full time wage coming in I will definitely be going shopping!  Here are a few of the things I want to buy next month.

  1. Antipodes Grapeseed Butter Cleanser I finished my Neal's Yard Cleanser a few weeks ago so I'm looking for a new 'luxury' cleanser to use on a daily basis.  I do still have some No7 ones I'm trying to use up but I don't enjoy using them and it's just a chore!
  2. River Island Jacquard Skinny Trousers I briefly saw these in the shop but then at a course I went on for work, one of the women was wearing them and they looked great!  As they're black it means I can wear them for work as well if I wanted to.
  3. Konjac Sponge Puff with French Green Clay These just look so intriguing! You can use it alone with some water and it exfoliates and cleanses the skin, you can also use it on your body.
  4. Butter London All Hail The Queen I don't specifically want this shade but now that they're available in Boots I really just want to add another one (or more) to my collection of one...  I'll need to get googling swatches and decide!
  5. Apple iPad Mini 32GB I'm kind of cheating with this one... It's my birthday soon I think I'll go halfers with my parents for my present and get one of these!  I do have a very basic tablet but I just feel like I'm missing out haha!  I think I'd probably get the mini as the big one is maybe a bit too big, and also the mini is cheaper which is always helpful!

Louise Loves #1

I have decided to try and do a series of weekly favourites, which will include a few things I have been really liking, but not specifically beauty or make up items.  I'm kind of scared about doing this incase I will feel pressured to do it religiously and get myself all stressed if I forget (which is silly!)... Anyway I'm going to just go for it, I guess if it ends up not being weekly it's hardly the end of the world :)

Dorothy Perkins earrings
I won these earrings from Jen at The Big Burd's blog giveaway and I love them!  They're not something I would have picked up myself so I'm really pleased I got them.  They sort of look like small stretchers but obviously the actual pierced bit is just a normal earring size!
[Price unknown from Dorothy Perkins]

Tesco Jelly Sweets
I had heard about these through Karris I think?  But where I live we don't have a Tesco nearby, however now that I have to commute to college a couple of days, it takes me past a huge Tesco Extra.  So every couple of weeks I pop in to get my fix of vegetarian jelly sweets! They also come in cola flavour, and the ones which look like multi-coloured astrobelts are veggy too!  Morrisons also do fizzy strawberry sweets but they're not as nice as these ones.  I am totally addicted!  According to this website, they appear to be vegan too which is amazing.
[3 for £1 from Tesco]

Butter London Disco Biscuit
I've been really loving this polish recently, in the photo it is layered over a neon pink which you can see in a NOTD post here.  It's so bright and pink, with a subtle blue shimmer.  My gran disapproves hahah.
[£12 from www.cutecosmetics.co.uk]

NOTD: Neon Layers

Butter London Disco Biscuit
Butter London Disco Biscuit
base coat, nail colour, top coat

A couple of weeks ago I had painted my nails neon pink for my friend's 21st party and I was just staring at them (as you do) when I suddenly had this 'amazing' idea of putting Disco Biscuit over the neon.

So I finally got round to doing it last night and it didn't quite turn out as how it looked in my head!  I ended up needing to use 6 coats!  I used 2 layers of neon pink (not going to mention brand as pretty sure it's not CF), 2 layers of Disco Biscuit then 2 layers of Seche Vite topcoat!  The topcoat made a huge difference though, it basically went from looking crap to looking pretty amazing.  The 2 layers of topcoat also it gave it a nice squishy look!

Here is a close up to try and show the glitter, however it is a lot more visible in person:

And to compare, here is a photo of Disco Biscuit on it's own:

I think adding the pink underneath gives it a really nice depth, and makes the nail line a lot less visible.

NOTD: Disco Disco Disco!

I'm so creative with my post titles aren't I!?  This is one of the goodies I bought from cutECOsmetics shown in my last post.

I'd had my eye Disco Biscuit from Butter London for a while, it's such an unusual colour: bright pink with blue/purpley shimmer.  I'm not totally clued up on nail varnish types but this one is quite sheer and slightly jelly-ish!

I painted my nails last night and I already has some tip wear a few hours later!  So for these photos I repainted them and used 2 coats (3 on ring finger for comparison).  Hopefully it was just my application which made it chip quickly - I used my new base coat the second time and it was a lot smoother!

This was my first Butter London purchase and I'm not sure that it was worth £12... I don't regret buying it and no doubt I will buy more but I don't think it is amazing which it bloody well should be at that price!  Although let's not even go into Deborah Lippmann prices...  Here are the photos!!

Knackered Vs. Not Like The Movies

I said in a recent NOTD that I thought that Not Like The Movies seems quite similar to Butter London's Knackered, which I don't own.  My friend Gillian owns it and she kindly took a photo of it on her nails for me!  It is quite hard to tell as they are both under different conditions but I would say that they have a similar tone - the green/purple duochrome - although Gillian's photo shows it distinctly more purple!  Also the glitter in Knackered is much more visible and very sparkly, it's very subtle in the O.P.I. one.  They are definitely not interchangeable but do have similarities.  I kind of want it now... oops!  Maybe Gillian will let me paint my nails with it, hint hint!!
