- Put the hair into a high ponytail (easier said than done; I can do a tutorial for a really easy way of getting a high ponytail to stay put, especially for thick hair, so just let me know in the comments if you'd like to see this.).
- Take a section from the top of the ponytail.
- Backcomb this section.
- Repeat until all the ponytail is backcombed, spray with hairspray.
- Spread the hair around a central point and smooth it out using your brush.
- Using fingers or the pointed end of a tailcomb, swirl the hair round in a clockwise direction until you get a desired bun shape. Tuck in the ends and fix with kirbies. To get them secure, stick the kirbies into the hair and wiggle them around before sliding against the scalp.

I really like this post! I am so bad with hair, and I do mean, SO bad. Are you able to do a ponytail tutorial for thin hair? I would love to wear my hair up nicely, and even have a bit of a quiff, haha. But my hair just falls straight out! And has bumps underneath the ponytail just above my neck, even if I brush it a hundred times and put clips in it. :( I love this bun, and will give it a go on myself.
ReplyDeleteThank you! Yes I will do some research and have a go! It would probably be quite similar to the thick method cos it's mostly about supporting the ponytail and keeping it in place! :) let me know how you get on, I would probably struggle to do it on myself haha!
DeleteI wish I had long hair to rock a bun and ombre it!
ReplyDeleteLovely bun hun! (It rhymes :P)
xo Deja
Deja Zu
That would be awesome :D
DeleteI love this hairstyle! But it never, NEVER turns out like I want! Aargh!
ReplyDeleteAw oh no :( I can't do it on myself sadly lol hoping to train up my mother with all these so she can do them on me :P
DeleteI found this post when I was searching for updos for long, thick hair. I'd love to know your trick for getting a high pony to stay put, no matter what kind of ponytail holder I try (silicone, textured, etc), my thick hair always pulls it down. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteAww I will try and get that up this week then, it might be quite tricky to do on yourself but definitely worth a try :)
