EU Ban on Animal Testing

I mentioned this in one of my recent posts so I thought I'd go into it in a bit more detail seeing as this is a major breakthrough and fits in with my blog!

This new law states that as of 11th March 2013 any products sold in the EU must not be tested on animals - finished products or ingredients.  Now, it is a bit confusing as there are loopholes and obviously the whole issue with China, but I came across a great post by Beauty Without The Beasts which is very informative and goes into all these details.

  1. Interesting reading! Since coming across your blog, cruelty free make up is much more important to me than it was. Nice to see the ban, but it looks like alot of grey areas still x x x

    1. No problem :) yeah I didn't even want to attempt writing a post about it in my own words - it would not have ended well haha!

  3. This was a great read thanks for linking it. It's a MASSIVE step forward but there were always going to be loopholes. However, I really do think it's such a positive thing and I will feel more confident when buying products now.

    1. Definitely, I was thinking about brands like Laura Mercier who don't sell in China but can't guarantee their ingredients are CF, they should be okay to use in a year or so!

  4. So excited for this, I just wish some of the bigger companies would state what they are doing. Shame about the loopholes though, bah!

  6. I'm so conflicted about this >.< Like, do I still boycott brands who use ingredients that have been animal tested in the past? It's not like you can go back and untest them.

    1. Personally I don't because I think it would be too hard to find out what ingredients have been tested on in the past!! As long as the ingredients and final products haven't been tested on animals by the company itself or any third parties then I am happy to use them :)
